Charlie finally slunk home when his tummy rumbles started to give away his hiding place.
Thank fuck for that. He came out of the bushes and gave such a relieved miaow when he saw me - I suspect he got scared when it got dark and was too frightened to come out of his hidey hole.
I didn't know whether to risk lacerations and scoop him up for a cuddle, or shake him for all the worry he put us through! I opted for a scoop up and a feed up.
All my kitties are safe and sound in cattery. The house seems so empty without them here. I was cleaning and the black bag was rustling in the wind. I could have sworn I saw Frankie standing there.
But alas. I shan't see them now until 14th August.
My bags are packed. Florida, here we come!!!!!
The five cats sleep by day and eat me out of house and home by night. The labrador will hump anything that moves. Somewhere along the way I also acquired a bottomless pit of a husband, and after three years of trying our arses off, we have two little girls with another on the way.

Holy crap!
The Baron has given up smoking too! So far he's managed 48 hours without a fag, or any of those give up smoking aid thingies.
Heaven help us both!
(and the latest from the RSPCA is that Willow is to lose her eye on Monday. Along with her girly bits too.)

Househunting
We have found a house we like, offered and been accepted. We did a fair bit of paperwork today relating to that to speed things up. And to celebrate, we went to peek at our future house.
The current owners were outside, and saw us. Not only did they see us, but they recognised us, and so we have spent the afternoon drinking tea, being shown round in detail, going through the fixtures and fittings that will stay and getting the gossip on our future neighbours.
The draft contract relating to the sale of our house went out today, so we should exchange before we go away.
So not only is it two weeks to a holiday (on Friday), but our move is looking a lot closer.
Can I hear a huge WOOHOO??!!!!!

Could it be true?
We've sold the house again, subject to contract of course. Third time lucky we hope.
So now it is back to searching for a house.
Someone please just put me out of my misery!

Defying gravity
My new tops with the built in engineering arrived this morning. Some of us need that extra welding to keep things as they should be.........
So at the moment I am defying the laws of gravity. I am not however defying the laws of cat hair. I look half cat - white male tabby to be precise, although a certain bitey ginger whinger has left his mark.
Still, I went to a farm shop today whilst on my travels. Not only do I have a bunch of the finest organic English asparagus, but I have a punnet of the finest organic English strawberries. They were freshly picked - still warm from the sun and they are so sweet and juicy.
Dessert? A meringue nest filled with whipped cream and fresh strawberries. Who's coming over?

Good things that happened today
1/ Finally had a haircut. I no longer look like Cousin It.
2/ Bought an outfit for the stupid wedding. Technically it is for work since I refuse to buy an outfit for the wedding, but it happens to be ok to wear to more formal occasions.
3/ Bought two pairs of my favourite shoes.
4/ The Boy returned home from his Dad and gave me a big cuddle.
5/ Ellie escaped! It was funny - the cat flap is set to let cats in and not out, so she waited for Frankie to come in and nipped out at the same time. Then she got scared and cried to come back in.
6/ The Baron cleaned my car, inside and out.
7/ Finally mastered the bass line to By the Way (Chilli Peppers). Sore fingers but deep satisfaction.
8/ It's the weekend!

Moving!
Our offer was accepted on the new house. We move in five weeks.
(We retracted our offer on the other house. The people at the top of the chain have still not got off their arses and found a house).
I have a small dilemma. We are going the self certification route on the mortgage because we don't fit the standard income mulitpliers. We can afford the repayments easily due to our lifestyle, but the mortgage lenders generally don't consider that, preferring to use the tried and tested income multiples.
Back to the self cert.........the broker is somewhat stretching the truth to make sure that we fit the criteria and can get the mortgage. I feel a little uncomfortable with this, although I understand that we wouldn't be able to afford this house otherwise (and it is a fab house). We can afford the repayments easily, even factoring in interest rate rises........but that little niggle won't go away that I am being somewhat naughty.
Ick. The application goes in tomorrow. Fingers crossed that it all goes well.
In other news......the house is FAB!!! It is a townhouse, so over three floors. It has:
an intergral garage;a downstairs cloakroom;a utility room;a ground floor reception room;a kitchen diner;a huge pantry;a living room;three bedrooms;one en suite;a family bathroom;a loft; anda back garden.
It also boasts two car spaces and is near the main road to the motorway, and hence to work. I really really hope that all goes well!

Woohoo!
Sold the house today. Made a stonking profit on it too - £4000 short of double what we paid. Got to love the booming housing market; at least until you realise how much your next house will cost you. We still haven't found a house, but we are going to look at more next week so hopefully we will find something we both like.
So I don't need to obsessively tidy each day. I can cook with garlic again. I don't have to struggle to dry the washing before viewings. I can relax!
The Baron left his job of eight years today and is out drinking himself to oblivion - but he deserves it. His new job starts on Monday and he is very excited. (I have to go to London; Chalk Farm to be exact on Monday. After Madrid, I can't say that I am ecstatic about train and tube travel, but you just have to live with it)
My contribution to the Baron's impending liver failure was to drive him to the pub. All the stretch limo's were out, the rude boys were gathering on the corner to go to the local meat market, and the heifers were on their way, in their white fuck me boots and tits hanging out of their tops. Charming scene.
Now I needed to blend in. What to do? Not being dressed like a slag (although probably the cleavage to get away with it) I was limited. Anyone seen the Peugeot ad? The one where he transforms his crapmobile into a Peugeot 306 with the help of an elephant and a sledgehammer and then drives through the town nodding along to his music?
That was me. Except it was London, not India, and a Corsa instead of a Peugeot. And I am cool anyway
